When we first heard that Foo Fighter's Dave Grohl, also previous drummer of Nirvana, was going to collaborate with the Zac Brown Band, I think I can speak for everybody that we all got quite excited to see what was going to come out of this association. The Grohl Sessions Volume 1 is exactly what came out of this collaboration, and according to the rumor mill there very well could be more collaboration to come in the future, perhaps a Volume 2. This first act is perhaps the highest concentration of high quality content we'll get this year. There are only 4 songs, but each of them had a tremendous amount of work and effort put into them.
To be fair it's quite hard to find anything wrong with any of the songs of this first act. You just sit on a comfortable chair and profit from the musical complexity and the quality of the song-writing of every single song. You don't want to think about anything, you just enjoy. The Grohl Sessions Volume 1 is full of life, it's upbeat and you can feel the sheer enjoyment they had making those songs. Dave Grohl's collaboration is strongly felt at a lot of points, but we also get to enjoy a strong vocal demonstration by the rest of the Zac Brown Band's team, particularly Zac Brown's vocal capabilities in All Alright.
If this album is any indication of what to expect from their next album, we have a lot to be excited about.

All Alright
The guitar in this song is pretty impressive, and Zac Brown Band shows us that it's not because the emphasis is on musical complexity that they skipped on the song-writing. Dave Grohl offers a pretty good introduction at the guitar, but the rest of the song is just as impressive, with a really good chorus rhythm. I'd say that this is my favorite song of the four they released on Volume 1. You can really feel the passion they put in producing this song.

Let It Rain
This song is also very enjoyable, and there's a lot more emphasis on the musical side of it, with a quite long "no-lyrics" part at about 2 minutes 50 seconds. Again Zac Brown Band made sure to leave nothing behind, putting effort in both the music and the lyrics.

The Muse
The intro of this song is really impressive, and the same rhythm comes back again at other points of the song, which is more than welcomed. The song-writing in this song is really impressive, perhaps one of my favorite songs that Zac Brown Band ever wrote.

Day For The Dead
Again very impressive song-writing, very well produced song as well. Makes a very nice ending to the first part of Zac Brown Band's collaboration with the Foo Fighter's singer and guitarist. The song, despite its name is filled with emotion and life, very strong rhythm. Ups and downs, changes in tempo... all in all extremely well produced.
