Here's To The Good Times - Florida Georgia Line

Now I'm really really late to this, the album was out months ago. But since this is my first blog post, I feel that writing about the band that everyone is talking about kind of makes sense. Florida Georgia Line apparently knows how to make songs that will play on the radio. They really need to improve the song-writing, in my mind it really kills the album. With 2-3 more in-depth songs, they could have gotten a 8 or 8.5 quite easily. Also, some songs have rap in them. Some people might like it, I really don't.

They made good money with this album, they should think of adding more instruments to their band. Some songs had other instruments like piano, but the music complexity is obviously lacking in their first album. I hope they surprise us with their next album with something more mature.

Final score: 6.5/10

Without further ado, here is the individual grades for each songs. Moreover, don't forget to add your own opinion in the comment section, or ask for an album review !

Cruise
Now we all listened to this song this summer, most probably more often than we would have loved to. I don't think this song has anything really particularly interesting about it except that it sounds good on the radio. Lyrics are pretty empty, but the beat sounds good anyways, and that's the main reason we heard it a lot. After listening to the whole album, I saw that this one had a different rhythm from the rest of the album.

7/10

Round Here
I could probably put the same comments as I put for Cruise... The music has more ups and downs than some other songs on the album, where it's really really repetitive.

6.5/10

Get Your Shine On
Same principle as the 2 above. I guess it's a matter of personal taste which one you prefer the most, or dislike the most depending on how much you heard them on the radio.

6.5/10

Here's To The Good Times
I find that the music is getting really repetitive. At least the lyrics for this one are a bit more researched than for the previous songs. However, you still get a lot of clichés.

5/10

It'z Just What We Do
Maybe some prefer love it, but I can't stand having rap in a country song. To me it kills any pleasure that I could have had with the rest of the song. Lyrics are unresearched, filled with clichés, and the music, again, is repetitive, and pretty much the same kind of thing we heard all album so far.

3/10

Stay
Even though they didn't come up with the lyrics, to redo this song makes sense for them. It really changes from the generic and filled-with-clichés lyrics we have had so far. The music again is nothing to fall on your back for, but it fits the song in a very nice way. Enjoyed the song quite a lot.

8/10

Hell Raisin' Heat Of The Summer
A song without any single country cliché? Wonderful ! We even get music that is slower and in which more effort was put.

7.5/10

Tell Me How You Like It
I felt that the music on this one was a break from what we heard so far. The lyrics are obviously repetitive in this song, there is not much of a story here either. On the other hand, I find that special effort was put to make it different given the lyrics.

7.5/10

Tip It Back
And we are back to the old music style that we've seen so far. Filled with clichés also. Lacks the ear-worm factor that the first 3 songs had in my mind. Brian Kelley (the guy with the short hair) had a much longer singing part than in the other songs though. That was quite surprising.

5/10

Dayum, Baby (Feat. Sarah Buxton)
Kind of a filler song in my mind. Repetitive lyrics, nothing to see here guitar-wise.

3/10

Party People
Music is different from what we heard so far by quite a bit. Lyrics aren't filled with clichés, but are really repetitive. Moreover, we get some rap once in a while, which again, kills it for me.

4/10

What Are You Drinkin' About Tonight
Lyrics are a bit more profound on this song, and the music is slower, adjusted to the lyrics. I quite enjoyed the song.
7.5/10

Country In My Soul
The singing is creative in this one, but what they are singing, is as too often on this album, full of clichés. The guitar is nothing to be impressed about, it sounds quite similar to what we heard so far.

4/10
