This is Brett Eldredge first album, and he genuinely put a lot of effort into it. I'd say it's not entirely 100% consistent, we get quite a lot of the same theme going again and again, but I guess that his next album will have a bit more diversity to it. In any case, it's the first album, so we have to give him credit for writing each song himself, and putting thought in all of them.
As a whole, Brett has an impressive voice, and he uses it well. Points to him also for never falling in the cliché song-writing, as we've seen a lot too often recently. Hitting 2 songs right off the bat on the Billboard is impressive, and I wouldn't be surprised to hear more of it. It's a genuinely good album, so to anyone who wonders if they want to buy it, go ahead. Some songs such as Raymond or Bring You Back really deserve special attention, and you won't hear them on the radio before long, at least not with the kind of songs that hit the radio recently.
8.5/10
Tell Me Where To Park
Average song, lyrics tending to clichés. We don't get anything particularly interesting musically-wise either.
6.5/10
Don't Ya
The lyrics in this song are quite entertaining, the song has quite a nice rhythm. As a whole, everything fits well together, and it's no surprise that this was one of the most successful singles Brett had.
9/10
Bring You Back
We expect quite a lot from the song that's the title of the album. The song is very deep with emotions, of the man who gets heart-break. Brett Eldredge also had quite a nice challenge with this song vocally, and he didn't disappoint. You won't hear this song on the radio anytime soon, but it's still very good.
8.5/10
On And On
Lyrics and music get really repetitive in this one. The song as a whole is only average, there is no story in this one. Eldredge could have put a bit more effort in the song-writing here.
5/10
Gotta Get There
Entertaining song as a whole, upbeat, and Brett put more efforts in this one quite a bit, but again, we are not faced with top-tier song-writing, but considering this is his first album and he wrote most of it by himself, I really have to give it to him.
7.5/10
One Mississippi
Song-writing in this song was impressive, and the song as a whole with the piano feels different from what we heard so far. Brett Eldredge shows that he can make songs of every type. Like said in other reviews, I'm not a fan of depressing songs, but this song might attract to a certain audience.
7/10
Beat Of The Music
When I first heard this album quite a few weeks ago, I knew from the get go that this song would get on the radio. Very nice that to make commercially viable songs, Brett Eldredge doesn't fall in southern clichés. Very entertaining song.
9/10
Waited Too Long
Another song with the thematic of the guy who lost his love. Another depressing song. He could really have taken another theme if he wanted to make another of those. He tried to play with his voice to add emotion, but on my side, it's not really convincing.
4.5/10
Mean To Me
This is really another song with generic music, generic lyrics, and it gets repetitive early in the song.
4.5/10
Signs
Entertaining song, and it's quite well written. We strongly appreciate that Brett Eldrege goes out (finally) of the love-song or love-gone theme (it is talking about the little town facts that you wouldn't be aware off at first sight). I'd be surprised to get this on the radio at some point because of the lack of notoriety Brett Eldredge has, but if it gets there, I wouldn't be that surprised either. It's really a good song, in which the music fits well.
8.5/10
Raymond
This song was written and made by Brett pretty long ago, back in 2010. There is even a music video of it. The song is really well-written, the woman thinking the employee is her son is a very original theme. Brett also does impressive singing in this song. But again, not quite a fan of songs with a depressing aspect to it.
8.5/10
Go On Without Me
Out of all the songs about love that Brett wrote on this album, this is my favourite. It has an upbeat rhythm to it, his voice is impressive on this one as well and the drum really add to it.
8/10
